Weirdest Fashion Trends

Weirdest Fashion Trends – I’m not totally sure I ever really got fashion! I kind of find most fashion trends a little odd and being a minimalist I don’t fully understand the time and effort some take for the weirdest of fashion ideas and trends. Still I do recognise that it is supposed to be about self expression and individualism and I do like fashion and think it has some importance. Anyway I thought it would be cool to take a look at what I think are some of the weirdest trends over the years and hopefully you’ll then share some of yours. Weirdest Fashion Trends Weirdest Fashion Trends One of the things I tend to to judge most things in life on is whether they are practical or not. It’s just the way I am wired! When I can’t understand a fashion I would say much of the time it’s related to this notion and I know that for many I am just missing the point! Still have a read of my list and then please pick my choices are apart and add your own comments and thoughts. No-prescription glasses – I would say this trend has been fairly prevalent now for the last 10 years or so. I find it so odd because although soe people do look quite cool with them being a glasses wearer (not by choice) leads you to realise it sucks! Worrying about breaking them, getting sores, reflection off the lenses etc etc. Still I guess the no-pres can be taken off whenever they become a burden. M0-hawks – I actually love mo-hawks and think they are pretty awesome but they are still very odd. Such a high maintenance hair style just doesn’t fot with the movement it came from (yes I know it was a Native American hair style first). Punk was supposed to be about going against all that commercial stuff, the idiocies of life and what “the man” makes us all do! Caring about our hair and maintaining fashion was a tool of “the man” so why did punks effectively impose this on themselves with a high maintenance hair style? Any real punks out there, please explain? Men wearing women’s jeans – Again, I think this move was bold and cool because of that but….. It’s hard enough to fit your cajoolies in a tight pair of mens jeans without feeling some over the top discomfort. Why go through the pain of stuffing your meat and veg into a space that just wasn’t meant to be? Luckily you can buy men’s women’s jeans now (go figure?) so the problem is resolved. Floor dragging pants – I’m into some metal and I used to think super baggy pants were really cool, until it rained that was! And then minute by minute you could see the water level rise up and up towards the belt-line! Again it’s about practicality. I have no idea why people bothered to skateboard like this either, that was just an accident waiting to happen! Nipple piercing – OUCH! Weirdest Fashion Trends Hopefully you realised this article was much tongue in cheek. I do kinda mean what I said but would be sad if teenagers stopped trying to express themselves even if they do look ridiculous at times. Expression and finding yourself through genuine individual fashion is part of the growing up process and often relates to music you love, friends you love and general life experience. We should always try to obtain some individualism through fashion and be careful not to get caught up in the heavy consumerism load it bears on us all, thrift shops are your friend! I’d say one of my biggest fashion mistakes was at the age of 14-15 getting a little obsessed about having name-branded clothing and shelling out far too much of my precious money for clothing that exhibited someone else’s logos and brands. Now days I keep it simple and am even considering decking out like the Homer Simpson wardrobe! Related: How much do you spend on clothes? What is your biggest fashion wtf, biggest fashion mistake and general thoughts on this whole weird fashion thingy? Thanks for reading -Weirdest Fashion Trends
