Jackson Highest Grossing Actor

According to the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records, Samuel L. Jackson is the highest grossing film actor in the world. That is to say, all of the movies that he’s been in collectively totals more than any other movie star out there. It’s pretty impressive considering that despite Jackson being a recognizable, respectable actor, he is not necessarily at the super star status of other action actors like Will Smith, Tom Cruise, etc. I personally was shocked to learn that he had taken the highest grossing actor title– perhaps even more so when I learned that he has been in over 100 films throughout his career. Still, it’s not the number of roles he’s had that’s pushed his total through the roof. It’s the fact that he’s been part of some of the highest grossing films/series of all times. Believe it or not, Samuel L. Jackson’s films have grossed an incredible total of $7.2 billion. Jackson Highest Grossing Actor While he’s been in some brilliant independent films, it’s really the heavyweights that have made him the 7.2 billion-dollar king. All of the Star Wars prequels combined with Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, Jurassic Park, and even Pulp Fiction. Jackson’s also been in some terrible films. In fact, his entire career has been somewhat of a smorgasbord. But I think that’s what has made him successful to a degree. He tries everything, has a reputation for a fantastic work ethic, and doesn’t let himself get too typecast. As far as what he’s said about his choice in films, he says he picks roles that are “exciting to watch” and have an interesting character inside of a story”. The other incredible thing (I think) about Samuel L. Jackson is that he struggled with heroin and cocaine addiction for years and was able to beat it and continue on with a successful career. If anything he is a testament to hard work, perseverance and being open to trying new roles within your career. He may not be the most wealthy man in Hollywood, but he obviously is doing something right to be the highest grossing actor in the business.
