Beatrice Eugenie Sarah in Tears

Beatrice Eugenie Sarah in Tears Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice were recently filmed in tears talking about their mother, Sarah Ferguson, and her debt problem. The documentary which captured this candid moment, is a six-part series entitled Finding Sarah, focuses specifically on the Duchess of York attempting to conquer her financial problems. Yes, debt can affect just about anyone– even royals . In this case, the Duchess has accumulated great amounts of debt by overspending and is said to have somewhat of a problem when it comes to holding onto money. The series was produced by Oprah Winfrey and so far has only been aired in the States. Beatrice Eugenie Sarah in Tears The final episode aired on Sunday and shows the Duchess being caught in the middle of the News of the World sting. A friend had set her up to be caught demanding 500,000 pounds from a business man to gain access to ex-husband Prince Andrew. Despite the dramatic conclusion of the series, the actual point of the documentary was to depict a woman in the midst of financial ruin. Sarah Ferguson has a problem with money. And she’s not alone. Roughly 5.8% of Americans have compulsive buying disorder and most of them are women. Like anything addictive, the affected individual feels a great amount of pleasure from spending and psychologists have declared it as a form of ‘identity seeking’. Whether Sarah Ferguson actually is afflicted with this disorder I’m not clear on, however I know that the series’ purpose is to demonstrate her inability to ‘cope’ with money. Apparently this inability has led her to meet with several different psychoanalysts. In the mean time her 2 million pound debt has been cleared by her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. Beatrice Eugenie Sarah in Tears This is somewhat of a sad stories– especially as you can see that Sarah Ferguson’s problems with money have created a lot of chaos in her life that have upset her children. I know that they’re supposed to be wealthy people with everything in the world, but I don’t think not having money is the issue at hand here. I think the documentary is actually about a woman who’s incapability to cope with money has caused her to spiral out of control. Demanding half a million pounds to get access to her ex-husband is ridiculous. No wonder her daughters were upset. It’s scary to me what money can do to people. Whether it makes them greedy or elitist– it can make people go bad. And yet sometimes it’s more the stress from lack of money that pulls people apart. Is too much or too little money bad for our emotional health? Why does it have to be  that wealth, or lack thereof, determines so much of our happiness? Perhaps we all need a few lessons on personal and spiritual fulfillment before we enter the workforce as adults, because it always seems to me that people are consistently unhappy no matter what’s in the bank.
